Reds do a Manchester double

Liverpool FC logo Liverpool FC completed the Manchester double by eliminating Manchester City and United in two different cup competition and in progress put themselves in a position to get a domestic double this season.

Having led the Carling cup tie against City, Liverpool overcame the mighty league leader in an entertaining second leg semifinals at Anfield which finished all square at the end of 90 minutes. Liverpool going through 3-2 on aggregate curiosity of Craig Bellemy’s goal at City in the first leg.


The result meant Liverpool Liverpool ended their 16-year wait for a return to Wembley to set up a Carling Cup final against Cardiff next month. It is Liverpool’s first cup finals since 2006 when they won the FA Cup and something would be a just reward for the amazing fans patience who had to wait so long to see their Reds in another Cup finals. For the owners, its their first taste of a cup finals and a chance to see Liverpool win a silverware in their first full season.

Manchester down shows Liverpool’s strength in the squad and the quality displayed on the pitch. With finishing in top 4 would define the success of the season, a win in Carling Cup and may be the FA Cup would get Liverpool back in trophy winning mode and get the fans, the owners, the manager and the players buzzing again.
