Frank Rijkaard: Next Liverpool FC Manager?

Its been overdue now that the new owners at Anfield have  stood by the club’s embattled manager but now its been widely believed that they have begun to run out of patience following a horrible show which have seen Liverpool win only once in last 5 games. If some sources in England are to be believed, NESV, the new owners at Anfield, have decided to part ways with the Roy Hodgson and are lining up to appoint the former Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard at the helm.

If this news is to be true, then it’s certainly a big step in positive direction which would be in good interest for the future of the club. It would also re-iterate owners ambitions to get Liverpool back into title contention and built a team to mount a serious challenge for the League title.

Rijkaard, currently unemployed, been sacked by Galatasaray earlier this summer, have wealth of experience working with top European teams, noticeably  having tasted the league title with Barcelona more than once in La Liga. He has also tasted success in Europe winning the Champions League with Barcelona in 2007. Manager of year in 2007-2008, most of the players playing in the current Barcelona team have emerged under him. Regarded as one of the top manager’s in game, he would be the right man to take charge at the KOP.

The sources also believe this appointment would be made as early as in next 48 hours, but that looks unlikely with Liverpool playing back to back on 1st and again on 5th January 2011. That would mean, its most likely that Rijkaard’s first game in charge of Liverpool FC could be the F.A. Cup tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford on 9th January 2011.

How true this news is, my guess is as good as any other Liverpool fan, but looking at the current state of affairs, this would be the best New Year’s news which majority of the Liverpool fans like me would love to hear.

That’s all from me on this one. Until next time from me Prathamesh goodbye.

Anfield & Roy: How long?

Is Mr. Roy Hodgson the right manager to take charge at Anfield and bring back the glory to the most successful club in English football history. The new owners have been like to wave of fresh air which has come since some turbulence time which saw Liverpool FC making into the news for all the wrong reasons.

Now there ambition is to win with Liverpool and invest enough in the squad and the academy so that Liverpool FC could mount a serious challenge for the League title. But are they convinced that Roy would lead and take charge at Anfield.

The previous owners, to be fair to them invested substantially giving the players which Rafa wanted at his disposal.  But at the end of it, they blamed it all on Rafa for the mess which Liverpool FC found themselves in on and off the pitch. If they weren’t convince about Rafa they should have let him go at once and appoint a person in charge.

On similar lines, hope the current owners do not waste a lot of time thinking about what’s to be done. If they are not convinced about Roy, they should at once let him go and appoint a new man in charge.

That’s all from me on this one. Until next time from me Prathamesh goodbye.
